Kayla Gilligan is a passionate and versatile dancer from Ocala, Florida, whose journey in dance is fueled by a deep love for self-expression and movement. In high school, she was invited to join the Academy Program at Orlando Ballet School where she trained under the guidance of Phillip Broomhead, Yan Chen and Amyia Burrell.
After two years of intensive classical ballet training, Kayla shifted her focus to contemporary dance and moved to North Carolina, where she is currently earning a BFA in Contemporary Dance at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts. Here she has performed works by Merce Cunningham, José Limón, Pascal Rioult, Stewart/Owen Dance, and Endalyn Taylor Outlaw, further shaping her diverse artistic approach.
Beyond the University, her studies have extended to programs including American Dance Festival and GagaLabs, where collaborative exploration and movement research have played a central role in her artistic development. She believes in embracing the raw beauty of the creative process and is dedicated to creating work that celebrates the art of movement. Looking forward, Kayla aims to dance professionally and collaborate with artists from all disciplines to find new sources of inspiration and foster innovation in her work.
