Kenzie Sawyer is a 22-year-old dancer from Omaha, Nebraska. She began her early training at Shockey Dance Company at the age of twelve and grew up in the world of competitive dance. Here she gained experience with a range of movement styles including contemporary, jazz, ballet, hip-hop, musical theater and acrobatics. Throughout seven years of competing, she received multiple first-place awards for both solo and ensemble work. After graduating high school, Kenzie remained connected to her home studio through teaching and choreographing for students ranging from ages 12-18.

In the Fall of 2020, she decided to continue her dance education at UNCSA and is currently pursuing a B.F.A. in Contemporary Dance. UNCSA has provided Kenzie with the opportunity to study contemporary techniques including Limón, Cunningham, partnering, and counter technique. She has also gained experience working with choreographers in the creation of new works. Some of her performance highlights have included works by Anthony Lee Bryant, Gina Patterson, Kira Blazek-Ziaii, Matt Del Rosario, Christina Mertzani and Ming-Lung Yang, as well as Crystal Pite reparatory. Kenzie has enjoyed developing her artistic self as well as building her tools as a dancer professionally. Kenzie prides herself on being a dedicated and hard-working student with a passion for being authentic. She is looking forward to graduating in May of 2024 and is excited to continue growing as a dancer and a person.
