Marina Zimmermann was born and raised in Porto Alegre, Brazil. She grew up with a passion for music and began playing the violin at the age of seven. Her grandmother often listened to orchestral music, and Marina soon began singing along to the songs she heard and wanted to learn more. In search of a better education, she left Brazil and enrolled at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, studying with Ida Bieler and Janet Orenstein.
As a second-year graduate student, Marina is eager to play and perform the violin as much as she can. In the United States, she has had greater opportunities to perform, which she loves. During her free time, she video calls her family, hangs out with friends and enjoys assembling puzzles.
