Murphy Lorenzo Applin Jr. is a proud native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He believes his passion, his drive and his determination were crafted in that city, where he was first able to explore his talents. When they are not acting, Murphy is singing and has been doing both since the age of three years old. While at UNCSA, Murphy has been able to strengthen their creative muscle in a variety of ways from writing and helping to devise the school’s 2020 production of "Inheritance: a Work in Progress," to acting in David Mamet’s "The Shawl." Murphy has also had the privilege of working with the School of Film in the short film, “Sammy Without Strings.” Murphy is also a lover of music, a songwriter, a vocal arranger, and has arranged vocal music for numerous School of Drama events over the course of his time at UNCSA.
