Shelby Coon's interest in dance began in her hometown of Augusta, Ga., with 11 years of small studio competition training. Her dance education was furthered by attending Davidson Fine Arts Magnet High School, working closely with Sharon Skepple-Mayfield on Fagan and African-based modern techniques. Shelby currently attends UNCSA pursusing a B.F.A. in contemporary dance with the opportunity to train in Limon technique, countertechnique, release technique, and Cunningham.
Her creativity was explored with supplemental training at the Shen Wei Dance Arts Summer Intensive in 2019. Awaiting graduation, Shelby has completed a Classical Pilates Mat teacher training. She especially looks forward to furthering her interdisciplinary artistry, continuing a performance career and utilizing her art for advocacy.
