Zakiya Hall

Zakiya Hall is an actor, singer, dancer, and writer born and raised in Greensboro, North Carolina. She began as a dancer/gymnast, but was inspired early on by her older sister to explore the world of theatre. She grew up being part of multiple productions at her local community theatre, where she learned that the joy she had being on stage was from being able to share stories for her community. With every project she’s been part of she strives to lead with kindness, inclusivity, and hard work, while still being her true authentic self.

Zakiya has been so grateful to have played a variety of different roles at her time at UNCSA. Her first role being Mae, in the “Wild Party,” then taking a huge turn by playing Decius Brutus in Shakespeare’s “Julius Ceasar.” This year in the fall she will be in the black comedy “Mr.Burns” by Anne Washburn, playing Quincy and Bart, and in the spring she will be in “The Revolutionists” by Lauren Gunderson, playing Marianne Angelle.

In Zakiya’s free time she DEEPLY loves to sing and if she could she would dance for hours. She enjoys reading Shakespeare as well, her favorite Shakespeare being Romeo and Juliet. The mountains also give her much, much, much, much, joy. But most of all she loves her family and friends, and at the end of the day she looks forward to the little moments she gets to share with her loved ones.
