Resources available to UNCSA employees

Dear Campus Community,

As inflation rates reach record highs — 8.4% in the U.S. and 4.9% in North Carolina — I realize everyone is feeling the impact of our current economic situation. The recent state employee salary increases will be helpful. Still, even with those increases, some people in our community have faced financial hardships they might not have experienced before. I want to make sure everyone is aware of the resources available to help ease that burden for UNCSA employees. 

• All employees have access to the Employee Assistance Program (EAP), which provides support, resources and information for personal and work-life issues — at no charge.
• Any permanent, full-time employee may apply for an Emergency Loan (not to exceed $2,000) with the expectation of repayment within one year.
• Save on regular purchases with UNCSA Employee Discounts and the North Carolina Employee Discount Program.
• If you have worked at a U.S. federal, state, local, or tribal government or not-for-profit organization for more than 10 years, you may qualify to have your student loan forgiven through the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) Program.

Supervisors, I am asking that you please familiarize yourselves with these resources and communicate them to people on your team who might be in need.

As a UNCSA faculty or staff member, I want you to know that each of you is critical to our mission and an essential part of this community. I am hopeful that some of the resources in this email will be helpful, we want to work together to support the people of our community the best we can.
