Recently, for my art exposure videos for ArtistsCorps I have been focusing on researching the "brain dance." I have learned so much and found it very interesting. As a dancer, I exercise and use every part of my body, almost every day. The brain dance allows a person to access a variety of movement types that awaken different parts of the brain. This is so important in order to be fully awake and mentally stimulated. This exercise is based on 8 developmental movement patterns generally experienced during the first year of life as the central nervous system develops. It is great to do as a warm-up, before a test to improve focus, or just to do on a weekend, to keep your body moving. Movement is so good for your health, mentally and physically. The brain dance is a great way to be introduced to dance. It also helps to keep your spirits up and your mind sharp. I have had a lot of fun learning more about the connection between dance and the brain.
