As I enter my fourth year in the School of Dance at UNCSA, I am figuring out what I want to do with all of the knowledge I have gained here. When I learned about ArtistsCorps, it really seemed like the perfect way to use what I have learned for a good purpose. I haven't had much time in my college career to give back, which is something that fulfills me. I love to make others happy, and using dance and art is one of the best ways to bring joy to people.
Dancing in a conservatory can be extremely competitive and stressful on the mind and body. It is easy to forget all of the reasons I love to dance, and why I decided on this major for college. So not only am I bringing joy to others, but I am finding the roots of my passion; dance in its most raw form. To share the basics of my craft reminds me of when I began to dance, and how liberated I felt. This feeling excites and motivates me to keep going, and to stay inspired. Dance is something that everyone should get to experience, so I am thrilled to help offer it to those who may not have access to this art form. I hope I can inspire someone, just like my dance teachers inspired me at a young age.
