The UNCSA School of Drama Community Program Acting Out will present a filmed version of "Edges," a contemporary song-cycle about several burgeoning young adults asking classic coming-of-age questions. Written by Tony-winning Benj Pasek and Justin Paul ("Dear Evan Hansen," "La-La Land," "Dogfight") in their sophomore year at the University of Michigan, this charming, witty and honest examination of adulthood explores what happens when we are teetering on the edges of our lives.

The songs cover such universal issues as love, commitment, identity and meaning while characters deal with confronting emotions, escaping expectations and deciphering complicated relationships.

Reservations

A filmed screening of the production will be shown on the UNCSA High School backyard lawn on Thursday, June 3, Friday, June 4 and Saturday, June 5 at dusk (approximately 8:45pm). Seating is general admission and opens at 7:30 p.m. We will be placing boxes throughout the lawn behind the High School Residential Complex in front of a large screen. Boxes are 4 ft x 4 ft and will safely hold 2 audience members. All boxes are physically spaced 6 ft from other boxes. Audience members should bring blankets or lawn chairs to sit on, as no seats will be provided, and those older than age 3 need to stay masked during the performance.

You may purchase individual tickets for $15 each. Patrons may also purchase a Bundle Box for $40 which includes two tickets; a choice of bottled water, Coke or Sprite; snack bag of Smart Pop popcorn, and plain or Peanut M&Ms for 2 people.  There will also be concessions available before the screening. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, no outside food or drink is permitted. There are a limited number of handicapped parking spots at the back of the lawn in Parking Lot R. For our patrons unable to attend the screening in person, you are able to purchase a ticket to a livestream of the production for $10.

Cancellations

Unfortunately, shows canceled due to inclement weather will not be rescheduled. However, the livestream option will be available to all ticket holders if the screening has to be canceled due to weather. If you would like to attend another in-person screening and there are still available boxes for other performances, you may reserve those on a first-come, first-served basis.
