SummerStrings @ UNCSA: Unique Training for the Modern Player

From classical to jazz to bluegrass, SummerStrings 2018 is cross-training for the truly modern string player. Over the course of two fantastic weeks, (July 8 – 21) UNCSA’s string faculty and award-winning jazz violinist Christian Howes will bring you the best of both worlds in string playing.  You'll find yourself rehearsing a Beethoven quartet in the morning and jamming on a twelve-bar blues in the afternoon!

In the first week, bring your game to a new level with UNCSA's internationally acclaimed artist-faculty, including chamber music and solo masterclasses with Europe's top violin teacher Ida Bieler, cellist Brooks Whitehouse and SummerStrings artistic director Janet Orenstein.

Then, bring your level to a new game with state of the art breakout sessions in bluegrass, jazz and extended string techniques as only Christian Howes can do them.

Hear Ida Bieler and UNCSA faculty lead students in Mendelssohn’s Bb String Quintet Finale!
