University Rehearsal & Commencement Day Information

The University Commencement for the classes of 2020 and 2021 is 4 p.m. Saturday, May 22, 2021, at the Truist Stadium, which is home of the Winston-Salem Dash Minor League baseball team. Graduates will be allotted four guest tickets and the ceremony will be livestreamed for additional access.

UNCSA will continue adhering to all of our current COVID-19 Community Health Standards including during our commencement ceremonies. This means masking (indoors and outdoors), social distancing, washing your hands, using hand sanitizer frequently and continuing to report exposures and positive cases. Refer to the May 14 COVID-19 email for details. Information will be posted as it comes available. Planning will be informed by guidance from local, state and federal public health authorities, as well as applicable orders and regulations from the governor and relevant federal agencies. Rehearsal is Thursday, May 20, 2021

2 p.m. - Virtual Commencement Rehearsal. You will receive an email with the Zoom link from the Registrar's Office.

Commencement Day is Saturday, May 22, 2021

Graduating student transportation

Parking is limited. Bus transportation for graduating students will be available from Performance Place Circle on campus for transport to Truist Stadium starting at 2:45 p.m. Last bus will leave campus at 3:15 p.m. If you are riding with your guests, University graduating students should arrive at Truist Stadium by 3:15 p.m.

Following the ceremony, students are to plan to leave the stadium with their guest party. There will not be bus transportation available to return to campus. If you have questions about bus transportation, email transportation@uncsa.edu.

Parking

Parking at Truist Stadium is limited. Carpooling is encouraged. Guests of graduates should plan to arrive together to be seated together. No tailgating will be permitted. Parking attendants can direct you to overflow parking, if needed.

Handicapped Parking. There are 16 reserved handicap parking spots located at either the main gate in right-center field (enter through the Broad St. entrance) or at the Flow Club entrance (off of Peters Creek Parkway entrance). These spaces are first-come, first-serve. The Dash will make every attempt to park all handicap patrons as close to the stadium as possible. Please see a Dash parking lot attendant if no handicap parking spots remain upon your arrival. There is also a Dash golf cart available to transport customers directly to the main entrance.

Guest Seating

Guest seating is not assigned, but will guests will be seated with their party's "pod." Graduating students will be seated together by arts school and by the classes of 2020 and 2021. Truist Stadium is equipped with handicap seating with companion seating available upon request. If a guest needs any special assistance, please contact any member of the Dash ticketing staff or your section usher to accommodate any needs you may have. When ordering commencement tickets, please note what accommodations are needed, if known at the time of ticket request.

Gates Open

Gates will open at 3 p.m. Saturday, May 22, for the University Commencement.

What you can bring in the stadium

Truist Stadium is an outdoor venue. Commencement will happen rain or shine. Be prepared for the weather. Umbrellas are permitted inside Truist Stadium should rain be in forecast and on unusually hot days, provided they do not block the view of other guests. 

Bags and containers are subject to search by gate security prior to entering the ballpark. Coolers and bags or backpacks with metal frames are not allowed into Truist Stadium. Certified service animals or service animals in training are welcome at Truist Stadium. Any other animals are prohibited from entering the ballpark. Any exceptions will be at the discretion and authorization of the Winston-Salem Dash.

Photos and video at commencement

The University has contracted with a photographer to take individual portraits of each graduate immediately following the graduate’s walk across the stage. Information on how to access these photos will be provided by the photographer. Students and families may take photos and video of the commencement ceremony at Truist Stadium. Family and guests will not be allowed on the field. (Though tickets will state that photography is prohibited, this is preprinted text that does not apply to Commencement at Truist Stadium.) In accordance with COVID protocol, please exit the stadium immediately following the ceremony to meet your party at your vehicle.

COVID-19 Protocols

  • Follow the UNCSA Community Health Standards that includes wearing a mask, waiting six feet apart, washing your hands or use hand sanitizer, staying home if you experience symptoms.
  • Guests will be seated in pods and physically distanced. Graduating students will be seated physically distanced.
  • Concourse flow will be marked with arrows to keep guest socially distanced. Guest are not permitted to congregate on the concourse in groups.
  • All graduating students will be tested for COVID-19 on May 7 and May 14.
