Environmental Health & Safety

The Environmental Health and Safety Department plays a key role in providing a safe and healthy environment in which to learn, live, and work. The Director of EHS reports organizationally to the Associate Vice Chancellor for Facilities Management, who reports to the Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration.

The Director of Environmental Health and Safety collaborates with the University Community to comply with Federal and State OSHA Standards to help keep our workplaces free of recognized hazards.

Mission and Goal

EHS Mission

Recognize, fix or manage workplace health and safety hazards via workplace safety inspections, offering workplace safety training, safety resources and consultations.

EHS Goal

Comply with OSHA, NCDOL, OSFM, NFPA, NEC, UNC System, OSHR and other regulatory criteria to maintain the safest workplace possible

The safety program at UNCSA is intended to provide employees with a sound, flexible framework for addressing the diverse safety and health issues that are intrinsic to our unique and creative campus.
