Here’s why NextNow is basically the best

NextNow, UNCSA’s annual scholarship benefit, is set to bring the party to Winston-Salem on Saturday, February 25, as classic meets cutting edge for a memorable evening of celebration. Following the Winter Dance Concert at the Stevens Center, guests will enjoy a special after-party at Embassy Suites. Here’s why NextNow is basically the best:

You can dance, you can jive

UNCSA is rolling out the dance floor for this special event. This year’s Winter Dance Concert will feature works by Paul Taylor, Merce Cunningham, George Balanchine and Goyo Montero. After the performance, members of the Paul Taylor II Company will join NextNow attendees at Embassy Suites, where a DJ will spin tunes for dance enthusiasts to hit the floor.

Papa-paparazzi

NextNow is your chance to walk the red carpet, so to speak, in front of UNCSA’s step & repeat. A photographer will be on hand to take your photo as you arrive to the event. Look for photos on Facebook afterwards! Check out 2016 event photos here.

There’ll be at least one surprise

You don’t want to miss a special performance at the after-party. We repeat: You don’t want to miss a special performance at the after-party. A short student scholarship video will also be premiered during the evening. Pro tip: look up as you enter the venue!

Guests of honor

This year’s honorary co-chairs are none other than UNCSA School of Dance alumni Wanda Plemmons and Dwana Smallwood. Chat with them at the party to learn more about their long careers in dance.

The inside scoop

A reliable source tells us that this year’s NextNow menu will offer items even better than the chicken & waffles from last year. Expect made-from-scratch beignets and “a pretty spectacular unexpectedly vegetarian eggplant napoleon.” Consider our interest piqued.

If NextNow sounds like your cup of tea, grab tickets before they’re gone.
