Jordan is a fourth year Stage Management student in the School of Design & Production and one of the Student Directors of the Ambassador Program! Originally from Flower Mound, Texas, Jordan loves the cooler weather and the artsy charm of Winston-Salem. As a Stage Management student, Jordan gets to be involved in many different productions on campus and works closely with the School of Design & Production, School of Drama, School of Dance, and School of Music. She loves talking to other artists about their stories and always enjoys meeting new prospective students on tours!
What brought you to UNCSA?
I was originally drawn to UNCSA by the standalone School of Design & Production. I was super excited to have our own dedicated Dean and Professors who understand the life of a professional technician. Being a standalone school also allows D&P to collaborate not only on Drama productions but also on Dance, Opera, and some Event work! This is still one of my favorite things about UNCSA, but now it is the people and hands-on education that keeps me excited to come back each school year.
What advice would you give to Prospective Students?
Be yourself --- it's corny, but it's true! If you are coming on a tour, bring all of your questions for the Ambassadors to answer. Questions help us customize the tour to what you're interested in and give you a better picture of the school. If you are starting your application process, know that the professors here want to see who you are as an individual. Showcase not only your skills, but also your personality! Our professors are looking for people who want to grow through our programs, not people who are perfect and already know everything. Application season can be daunting and a lot of work; remember to take moments to remind yourself of why you love what you do and that your merit as an artist is larger than any decision you receive (including positive decisions)!
