Bridge Days

Bridge Days = More than just a pause.

Formerly known as Collaborative Days, Bridge Days creates intentional time for interdisciplinary collaboration and exploration. They are part of the new Integrated Scheduling Initiative that began this Fall, which also includes Intermission, Faculty Engagement/Student Wellness Days and Capstone period.

Fall Bridge Days are Wednesday, Sept. 23, and Thursday, Sept. 24, bringing our campus together for two days of conversations, workshops and opportunities to connect with leading artists and industry professionals.

What you need to know

Student participation in Fall Bridge Days is mandatory. You must attend three sessions over the two-day period to meet this requirement. You will register for sessions through the Bridge Days app on Whova. Programming concludes at 5 p.m. Thursday.

Registration will begin Wednesday, September 16 at 8:30 a.m. (during Intermission). Seating is limited, so please sign up early to ensure you get access to your choice of sessions. Watch for an email reminder with the live link.

The first 500 students who register for sessions will receive a food truck ticket. If you are one of the first 500, you will receive your voucher by email, so keep an eye out. For everyone with a dining plan, lunch in the dining hall will be available from noon to 3:00 p.m.

This fall’s featured guests represent an exciting range of creative careers and perspectives across the arts and entertainment industries:

Dance: UNCSA alumna Camille A. Brown, five-time Tony Award-nominated director and choreographer whose Broadway, Metropolitan Opera, film and television credits include “Gypsy,” “Hell’s Kitchen,” “Fire Shut Up in My Bones” and “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom”; and choreographer, performer and educator Katie Vickers, co-founder and co-director of BARNA ARTS in Barcelona.
Design & Production: UNCSA alumnus Jake Frizzelle, senior designer at Walt Disney Imagineering, whose work combines theater, technology and storytelling; and Carol Ann Lafferty of On Location, who has been a part of the bid teams for the International Olympic Committee and FIFA World Cup 2026.
Drama: Director, scenographer and experience designer Irina Kruzhilina, whose interdisciplinary work has been presented at venues ranging from BAM and Times Square to the Barbican, Prague National Theatre and Tokyo Disney.
Filmmaking: Filmmaker, interdisciplinary artist and educator Maya Gurantz, whose work spans experimental film, video, performance, installation and new media.
Music: Tony, Grammy and Drama Desk Award-winning conductor, music director, orchestrator, composer and arranger Mary-Mitchell Campbell (H.S. Music ’92), whose extensive Broadway credits include “Death Becomes Her,” “Some Like It Hot,” “Mean Girls” and “Sweeney Todd.”

Beyond the featured speakers, you’ll have opportunities to take part in smaller workshops and discussions with visiting professionals and UNCSA faculty. Sessions will explore careers, collaboration, professional practice and the changing arts and entertainment industries, and you’re encouraged to venture beyond your own discipline and discover new ideas, perspectives and career possibilities.
