Athletic Trainer Student Opportunities

The University of North Carolina School of the Arts welcomes athletic training students with interest and enthusiasm to work in the performing arts. We encourage students to contact us for observation experiences and to apply for internships or clinical rotations.

Observation Experiences

Students interested in performing arts medicine in the fields of athletic training and physical therapy can contact Jenna Lynn Evans to coordinate an observation experience.

Academic Year Clinical Rotation

This is an immersive clinical rotation that allows athletic training students to work within a multi-disciplinary medical team to provide care to artists from each department: Dance, Design and Production, Drama, Film, Music and Visual Arts. Athletic training students will have the opportunity to work with adolescent and adult artists.

Due to the hands-on opportunities, this clinical rotation is geared towards athletic training students in their final year of a Professional Athletic Training Program (ATP). This clinical rotation can be tailored to the needs of the student and accredited athletic training program. Positions are offered in the fall and spring terms. This clinical rotation is unpaid.

Placement is determined by a review of the application, resume, letters of recommendation and personal interview. To apply, email the completed Athletic Training Clinical Rotation Application and additional requirements by the deadline specified for desired rotation.
