A bold rap adaptation of Euripides’ Greek tragedy, “Hippolytus and Phaedra,” reimagines an ancient story of forbidden desire and devastating consequence through rhythm, verse and contemporary musical form.

In the original myth, Phaedra is trapped in an arranged marriage to King Theseus when she becomes consumed by an impossible love for her stepson, Hippolytus, a young man devoted to purity. As secrets surface, desire turns to accusation and truth unravels into tragedy.

Directed by Nathan Winkelstein, this production is part of the UNCSA Rep Forward series, which invites audiences to experience new works inspired by classical texts.
