Isabella Gonzalez (she/her) is a contemporary dance artist born in Brooklyn, New York.
Her dance training began at the age of 3 in High Point, North Carolina, where she
grew up. Bella began her training at Dance South Performing Arts before transitioning
to High Point Ballet, a
pre-professional program under the direction of Gary and Rita Taylor. Although her
foundation was in ballet, Isabella slowly began to find a passion for contemporary
movement, and realized that it was an avenue she wanted to pursue. Currently, she
is attending the University of North
Carolina School of the Arts and is on track to graduate in 2027 with a BFA in Contemporary
Dance and a minor in Arts Entrepreneurship.
During her time at UNCSA, Isabella had the privilege of studying techniques such as Horton, Cunningham, Limón, West African, groundwork, and ballet. She has performed original and restaged works by choreographers such as Pascal Rioult, Da’Von Doane, Neta Pulvermacher, Ming-Lung Yang, Josè Limón, Charles Czarny, and Wesley Williams Jr. In addition to her time at UNCSA, she has furthered her training at intensives such as Steps on Broadway, staibdance, and Detroit Metropolitan Dance. These opportunities have allowed her to train with artists around the country and around the world.
Along with her performance credits, Isabella has developed an interest in composition, and is developing her choreographic voice both inside and outside of UNCSA. Following graduation, Isabella plans to continue dancing, collaborating with other artists to foster new ways to tell stories through movement.
