Melissa Ramos Fiche began dancing at the age of eight at her hometown studio, Diverse Performing Arts School, in Dubai. The training there allowed her to explore various dance styles ranging from ballet to hip hop. Through this experience, she discovered contemporary dance, which she quickly fell in love with and chose to pursue further. She continued her dance journey in Hong Kong at Red Shoe Dance school, then moved to Florida, where she graduated high school from Harrison School of the Arts. Melissa is currently pursuing her BFA at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, with a minor in Arts Entrepreneurship.
Since starting her degree at UNCSA, Melissa has worked with choreographers from diverse
backgrounds, including Brenda Daniels (Cunningham), Sean Sullivan and Savannah Sprat
(Limón), Kevin Tate (Horton), and Ming-Lung Yang (Catch and Release Technique). Outside
of her schooling at UNCSA, she has participated in the USF Summer Intensive, LINES
Summer Program, and S/OURCE Winter Intensive, which have shaped her as a dance artist.
Upon graduation, Melissa desires to pursue dance professionally so she can keep exploring
artistically while also applying the valuable skills she has gained throughout her
training, such as adaptability, anatomical awareness, non-verbal communication, and
critical thinking. She aspires to remain curious in her work while challenging herself
to grow not only as an artist, but also as an individual.
