Noah Welby

Noah is a lighting designer and programmer specializing in live events and theater. He is the lighting designer for "Idomeneo" (Winter Opera 2026). Music’s influence in theatrical storytelling is at the foundation of his work, and his designs at UNCSA and elsewhere have allowed him to build a specific intuition for the timing and character of light in musical contexts.

Last semester, Noah designed the lighting for "Natasha, Pierre, and the Great Comet of 1812," which additionally refined his ability to design in the round, and cemented his love for developing thematic and immersive atmospheres. He is consistently looking for new ways to deepen his understanding of the art and technology of lighting by combining his own discoveries and interests with the wisdom of others in the field.
