Seth Roberts (He/Him) was born in Nanping, China, and raised in Nicholasville, Kentucky. Growing up, Seth trained in ballet, tap, and contemporary. At the age of 16, he attended UNC School of the Arts (UNCSA) high school program. To further develop his technique and choreography, he chose to stay and continue in UNCSA’s BFA program.
At UNCSA, Seth has trained in techniques such as Ballet, Cunningham, Horton, Limón, Alexander, West African, Countertechnique, Release work, Partnering, and Natural Body Development. He has had the opportunity to perform both new and restaged works by José Limón, Merce Cunningham, Rena Butler, and Ming-Lung Yang.
Outside of UNCSA, he has attended summer programs where he has had the fortune of learning works by Crystal Pite, Marco Goecke, William Forsythe, Fernando Hernando Magadan, Kyle Abraham and Anne Plamondon. Additionally, Seth was named Obremski/Works Vision Fellow and is a huge advocate for diversity especially inside the AAPI community. In the future, Seth hopes to continue developing who he is as an artist and dancer.
