Summer Piano Intensive Apply & Audition

Eligibility

Participation in the Summer Piano Intensive is open to students who are at least 12 years of age and a rising 7th grade student, and no older than 16 years of age at the start of the program. Commuter and Residential applications are accepted.  SPI students ages 14 -16 are housed in Artist Village.  Students who are under 14 or not yet rising high school freshman and all students who reside less than 25 miles from UNCSA are not eligible for campus housing.

Application details

To apply for the Summer Piano Intensive, complete an application at this link being careful to select the desired SPI26 option and submit all audition materials to the link below no later than April 15, 2026.  Applicants will be notified of their acceptance status by April 20, 2026. Accepted applicants must confirm their participation and pay the deposit by May 1.   Waitlisted students will be notified of their status after May 1.

Note:

  • SPI is open to both commuter and residential students. Some SPI alumni have chosen to make their own living arrangements (Please note: applicants younger than 14 cannot live in campus dormitories, and will be asked to commute from home or a rental accommodation).
  • Accepted SPI applicants may be asked to switch to NCPF if appropriate.

Audition Requirements

Upload your Audition Materials

Submit by April 15, 2026:

  1. Links to two recent, contrasting live video recordings. iCloud, Google Drive, YouTube are accepted upload formats. The recording must show the performers hands and face, as well as the entire keyboard. Do not attempt to upload videos to this platform: submit two open access URL links.
  2. Recent headshot (high resolution, neutral background photos only, JPEG or similar format)
  3. Recent repertoire list (Word of PDF format, single page)
  4. A short bio with a focus on piano studies and performances (Word of PDF format, single page)
  5. Scholarship request form (if desired) included within the audition materials upload.
