Working at UNCSA or being a North Carolina state employee comes with perks and discounts.

Pickle Perks

UNCSA Performance Tickets
UNCSA faculty and staff can request two complimentary tickets to any UNCSA show, except for "The Nutcracker." There is a special campus night of "The Nutcracker" just for faculty, staff and students.  See the Complimentary Ticket Policy for details. There are three ways to request comp tickets.

Bestseller books and online access to magazines and films
You can check out current best selling books in the UNCSA Library and Learning Commons with your One Card. The Library  offers access to online resources, current employees and students can log in for access:

  • Flipster: Digital Access to 35 popular magazines.
  • Kanopy: Stream documentaries, indie and classic films

Fitness Center
Employees can use the UNCSA Fitness Center for free three times a year, purchase a summer membership or go all in with Fitness Center membership. Group fitness classes are free for employees without a membership. See Fitness Center website for pricing.

Miles for Wellness Challenge
The State Office of Human Resources sponsors Miles for Wellness, a step challenge, twice a year to promote activity awareness and to support increasing your physical activity. See past teams and join an upcoming challenge.

Mail Center
Employees can use the campus Mail Center to mail packages and purchase stamps. Please visit in the afternoon after the student mail has been sorted and distributed.

Note: Campus mail is for business use only. Personal mail and packages should not be sent to the Campus Mail Center for delivery. There is an exception for employees' who reside in campus housing. The use of state property and/or employees work for personal use is prohibited and may lead to disciplinary action.

Testing Services
Faculty and staff taking online courses, distance education courses or are enrolled at another college or university or can take their exam at the Teaching & Learning Center for an hourly fee. See test proctoring services.


Voter Photo ID:
If North Carolina requires a voter ID, your UNCSA One Card can be used as a valid voter photo ID. Refer to uncsa.edu/vote for current Voter ID information.

Writing Center
The UNCSA Writing Center is here to assist you with the writing process – from brainstorming to the finished paper.

Blue365
Employees covered by the State Health Plan may access Blue365 discounts offered by Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina. Benefits typically include discounted gym memberships, fitness gear and food/nutrition plans.

Dining Meal Plans for employees
Aramark offers a range of meal plans for faculty and staff to use in the Dining Hall – starting with the "5 for $35 Plan." Unused meals don't expire at the end of the semesters. You can eat breakfast, lunch or dinner on campus.

Lunch discount on Thursdays for employees
During the academic year, employees can enjoy a discounted lunch in the Dining Hall on Thursdays. Watch UNCSA Campus announcement each August for prices and when it starts. Not available May-mid August.
