Performance Overview

The School of Dance season closes with a vibrant convergence of classical and contemporary performance. Experience a showcase of exciting and diverse repertoire as students draw from traditional dance history and incorporate bold, new voices that are redefining the genre today.

Spring Dance presents a living continuum shaped by interpretation, risk and reinvention — affirming that dance traditions steeped in history are not static but are renewed through the bodies that carry them forward.

The program features a new contemporary work by guest adjunct faculty member Michael Jackson Jr., former principal dancer with Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, alongside new works by renowned guest choreographer Darrell Moultrie and faculty members Emily Nicolaou (H.S. Dance ’07, B.F.A. Dance ’09) and Ming-Lung Yang, who will collaborate on a new contemporary work that displays the program’s creative range. Representing the classical canon is a ballet by George Balanchine and the second act of “Giselle,” performed to Adolphe Adam’s ethereal score.
