Required Application Documents
After you apply through UNCSA's online application, you will submit the following documents.
High school and college transcripts should be submitted electronically to the UNCSA Office of
Admissions whenever possible. If your high school does not have the capability to
send your transcript electronically, please request that your official transcript
be mailed to the Office of Admissions. If you have credits from a college, please
also supply your college transcript.
Transcripts should be official sealed, signed or notarized copies of all secondary school academic records, that include a list of courses in which the applicant is enrolled at the time of application.
Home Schooled Applicants
Home schooled applicants should provide documentation that the home school is recognized by the state of residency and provide course titles and course descriptions for each year of home schooling, tests used and evaluation of knowledge that the applicant has completed the equivalent of the UNC System minimum course requirements. If the applicant has attended a traditional high school, submit an official transcript from that school.
College transfer students should submit to the Office of Admissions official sealed, signed or notarized copies of all secondary school academic records, that includes a list of courses in which you are enrolled at the time of application unless you have earned a bachelor's degree. Submit official transcripts from all colleges attended as well as a list of coursework in which you are currently enrolled, that may not yet appear on the transcript.
Official transcripts in your native language must be submitted with a literal English translation by a certifying agency. If you cannot have an original academic record sent from the institution, please contact a certifying agency to verify what they would accept as a transcript from your institution. Faxed or scanned copies are not acceptable.
Official test scores should be submitted electronically to UNCSA.
ACT or SAT Scores
Applicants should submit ACT or SAT test scores with the following minimum score requirements:
- SAT: 880 composite score in Critical Reading & Math (or 800 for SAT scores prior to March 2016)
- ACT: 17 (writing portion optional).
The average SAT Critical Reading, Math & Writing score of applicants is 1700 and the average ACT score is 24.
International applicants should submit official ACT, SAT, TOEFL or IELTS scores with the following minimum score requirements:
- ACT: Minimum English Writing Component of 21
- SAT: Verbal/Writing minimum of 500/500
- TOEFL: 79 internet-based, 550 paper-based, or 213 computer-based
- IELTS: 6.5
AP or IB Test Scores
Any AP or IB test scores should also be reported to the UNCSA Office of Admissions.
Letters of Recommendation
As a part of the application, UNCSA require applicants to submit contact information for two references. References will be sent a recommendation form and have the ability to upload an additional letter. UNCSA requires contact information for the following:
- One letter from an arts instructor
- One letter from an academic instructor
If you are not currently enrolled in school, a letter may come from an employer, mentor, instructor, director, etc
Application Agreement Statement
Undergraduate applicants should print, complete and upload a copy of the Application Agreement Statement only if they are under the age of 18 at the time they apply.
Provide a two-page artistic statement expressing your interests, goals and other information providing insight into your work.
- Include your full name on the document.
- This document may be used if you are recommended for scholarship consideration.
