Preparatory Level 1

Ages 8-9

Level 1 ballet curriculum focuses on posture, coordination, and musicality. Students will begin to control the rotation in their legs, articulate through their feet, and feel the alignment of the spine. 

Students are introduced to Barre Work at this level to aid them in building their form. Classes include strengthening, stretching, and improvisation to continue the student’s practice of Creative Dance.  

Class Schedule

  • Level 1A: Mondays and Fridays 5:15–6:45 p.m.  

Electives

  • Youth Performance Ensemble: Saturdays 10:30-11:30 a.m.
  • Youth Jazz: Saturdays 9:30-10:30 a.m.
  • Boy’s Ballet: Fridays 4:30-5:15 p.m.

Students must be at least eight years old by September 1 to be eligible for Level 1. Audition is required. No previous experience needed.
