Primary Division Ages 3–7
Primary Division Ages 3–7
The Primary Division introduces children to ballet and fosters a love of dance and movement. The division includes two years of Pre-Primary study to introduce young children ages 3 and 4 to the format and structure of a ballet class. Instruction in PrePrimary classes is creative movement centric as students build their love of dance through stretching, strengthening, and coordination building games and exercises.
The Primary Division includes two years of Pre-Primary study for ages 3 and 4 and three years of Primary Ballet for ages 5 to 7. Instruction in Pre-Primary classes is creative movement centric as students build their love of dance through stretching, strengthening, and coordination building games and exercises.
In Primary A, B, and C, children progress through elementary level ballet vocabulary to build sound body alignment, musicality, coordination, and attention to dynamic detail — how the body moves through space. No experience or audition is required for the Primary Division.
Open Enrollment is by age. Early enrollment is recommended due to strictly limited class sizes. To schedule a trial class for the 2025-26 school year, please email prepdance@uncsa.edu
