Save the Date: UNCSA Emerging Technology in the Arts Residency

Xin Ying dancing on stageSave the date for the UNCSA Emerging Technology in the Arts Residency on Aug. 29, a thought-provoking afternoon exploring how emerging technologies such as AI are reshaping artistic practice. 

Hosted by UNCSA and the Thomas S. Kenan Institute for the Arts, the residency will bring together artists, technologists, legal scholars and industry leaders to examine the ethical, legal, technical and creative implications of AI for the arts. The event centers on the work of acclaimed choreographer and Martha Graham Dance Company member Xin Ying, which was created in collaboration with Mimi Yin and NUUM Collective. 

The afternoon will feature a deep dive into their AI-inflected work, "Letter to Nobody," alongside discussions with leading experts on AI's role in artistic practice, a presentation of the work and an audience talkback.

The residency will also include student workshops and a free public screening of “The AI Doc: Or How I Became an Apocaloptimist" in partnership with a/perture cinema.
