UNCSA is committed to eliminating discrimination and harassment in all forms, including dating violence.

Discrimination and harassment, including relationship violence, are prohibited at UNCSA. Incidents of this type are contrary to our values of ensuring a safe, equitable and violence-free environment. They are also a barrier to achieving health and wellness, student success and institutional excellence.

UNCSA provides a fair and equitable process for resolving reports and complaints of discrimination, harassment and retaliation.

Mandatory reporting requirement

All UNCSA employees who learn about potential sexual misconduct are required to share that information with the Title IX office. When reported conduct involves suspected abuse or neglect of a minor, the conduct is required to be reported to child protective services(opens in new tab).

Non-confidenital emotional support

The following offices are considered reporting units of the university. If a complainant discloses relevant information pertaining to an investigation or a potential UNCSA policy violation, the office must report the information. Reports made to these offices are considered private and only appropriate university officials on a need-to-know basis will be informed.

The Office of Student Conduct & Community Standards

The Office of Student Conduct & Community Standards contributes to the educational mission of the University and to support a safe environment conducive to learning excellence.

The Division of Institutional Integrity

The Division of Institutional Integrity provides an integrated and coordinated approach to the legal ethical and compliance requirements that challenge every university.

Confidential support

These offices are not required to report incidents. Individuals who use these resources will be protected to the fullest extent possible in accordance with NC State policies and federal and state laws.

The UNCSA Counseling Center

Provides a diverse staff that is trained to address academic, emotional and social concerns that are common to college students and may impact overall well-being. Emergency and crisis counseling 24/7/365.

Coordinator of Gender Violence Prevention and Survivor Advocate

In the role of Coordinator or Gender Violence Prevention and Survivor Advocate, Fulton McSwain, Jr. serves as a single point person to guide students through the university, medical, and criminal law systems by providing confidential, trauma-informed advocacy and support to students impacted by relationship violence.

Employee Assistance

The UNCSA Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Program provides support, resources and information, for personal and work-life issues – at no charge. The program is administered through a third-party provider, ComPysch.

Headspace

Headspace offers on-demand, confidential mental healthcare through coaching via text-based chats, self-care activities, and video-based therapy and psychiatry—all from the privacy of your smartphone.

The Ombuds Office

Assists UNCSA faculty and staff in resolving issues, concerns and conflicts related to their university working environment. Provides information and identifies resources to strengthen work relationships, support constructive problem solving and inform decision making.
