Required Application Documents for High School Music
The following supplemental application documents are needed to complete your applicant file. With the exception of official transcripts and official test scores, you will have the option to upload your supplemental documents through your Admissions Portal after you have submitted your initial application to UNCSA.
You can submit your transcripts or report cards through your Admissions Portal for initial review of your application. Should you be admitted to UNCSA, any schools you have attended will need to send official transcripts to confirm your final grades at those schools.
High school and college transcripts should be submitted to the UNCSA Office of Admissions electronically whenever possible. If your high school does not have the capability to send your transcript electronically, please request that your official transcript be mailed to the Office of Admissions. If you have college credits, a college transcript will also need to be provided.
Official Transcripts should be sealed, signed or notarized for all secondary school academic records, and should include a list of courses in which the applicant is enrolled at the time of application.
Ninth and Tenth Grade Applicants
UNCSA requires academic records for the past three (3) years, including your current year of study. Applicants currently in the eighth or ninth grade should have their school mail official report cards, in addition to any transcripts, for a total of three years of complete records.
Home Schooled Applicants
Home schooled applicants should provide documentation that the home school is recognized by the state of residency (if applicable) and should provide course titles and course descriptions for each year of home schooling, as well as tests used or an assessment to show that the applicant has completed the equivalent of the UNC System minimum course requirements. If the applicant has attended a traditional high school, an official transcript from that school should be submitted.
Official transcripts in your native language must be submitted with a literal English translation and credential evaluation by a certifying agency, such as the World Education Services (W.E.S.). If you cannot have an original academic record sent from your institution, please contact a certifying agency to verify what they would accept as a transcript from your institution. Faxed or scanned copies are not acceptable as official transcripts, but will be accepted for initial review of your application.
AP or IB Scores
Any AP or IB test scores should be reported to the UNCSA Office of Admissions.
ACT or SAT Scores
ACT and SAT scores are not required for students applying to the high school program. However, if you have already taken these tests, you are welcome to have official scores reported to UNCSA.
International applications are required to submit official TOEFL Junior scores, with a miniumum score requirement of 745.
Letters of Recommendation
As a part of the application, UNCSA require applicants to submit contact information for two references. References will be sent a recommendation form and have the ability to upload an additional letter. UNCSA requires contact information for the following:
- One letter from an arts instructor
- One letter from an academic instructor
If you are not currently enrolled in school, a letter may come from an employer, mentor, instructor, director, etc
Application Agreement Statement
All high school applicants should print, complete and upload a copy of the Application Agreement Statement.
