Filmmaking is storytelling, and the job of the producer is to protect the story, ensuring it is not degraded throughout the long production process. The job of the producer is the story. In the undergraduate Producing program at UNCSA, you will learn every detail of safeguarding the story with in-depth classes and hands-on assignments will prepare you to enter the production world of filmmaking. The graduate Creative Producing program develops that role further, combining business and creativity in the role of creative producer, where entrepreneurial skills and storytelling expertise are a must.
"Painted Love," a 2019 senior thesis film by students in the School of Filmmaking, won a Judges' Award at Joedance Film Festival, a Charlotte-based showcase for projects created in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and Tennessee.
Five members of the class of 2020 are recipients of Student Artpreneur Grants of $2,500 each to support their creative work or creative enterprise: Tramaine Raphael Gray, Miles McKeller-Smith, Mayra Rodas, Lauren Blair Smith and Kayana Waller.
