Filmmaking Summer Intensive

The UNC System has canceled all residential and face-to-face summer programs for summer 2020 due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. We will update with information about online options no later than Friday, April 10. For students enrolled in programs that cannot offer an online version, or students who are not interested in an online program, we will refund all payments. A schedule of refunds by program will be avaialble no later than Friday, April 10. For questions, please email watkinss@uncsa.edu.

During the summer at Studio Village, UNCSA’s unique on-campus movie set, high school students and rising college freshmen immerse themselves for five weeks in the exciting world of narrative filmmaking. The conservatory’s dedication to developing the whole filmmaker extends to this comprehensive, hands-on, college preparatory summer program. Students here will experience all elements of filmmaking first–hand: screenwriting, cinematography, directing, producing and digital editing.

Students will also gain an understanding of the creative, analytical, organizational and cooperative elements of filmmaking and develop their own short narrative films, all with state-of-the-art equipment and facilities, professional instruction from our artist-teachers, enthusiastic coaching and feedback from college teaching assistants, and the collaborative efforts of fellow student filmmakers. This program is open to rising high school sophomores through incoming college freshmen.
