Firebird Ballet Suite

“Firebird Ballet Suite,” the latest release from UNCSA Media, captures the power, imagination and spirit of collaboration.

The recording features Igor Stravinsky’s iconic ballet score, performed by the UNCSA Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Mark A. Norman, and marks the first release featuring students from the new media label. Also presented in Dolby Atmos, the album offers a fully immersive listening experience, bringing Stravinsky’s dazzling orchestration to life in three-dimensional sound.

The project stems from a new partnership between UNCSA, the Thomas S. Kenan Institute for the Arts and Dance Theatre of Harlem (DTH), which began in Spring 2024 with North Carolina performances of DTH’s iconic “Firebird,” featuring UNCSA and DTH dancers, and live musical accompaniment by the UNCSA Symphony Orchestra. “Firebird” will return to DTH’s repertoire in 2026, using the UNCSA recording in select locations.
