Office of Career Readiness

The Office of Career Readiness at UNCSA helps prepare our students for a successful transition from school to profession. It provides enrolled students with overall career planning that supplements the career advice provided by the arts school faculty. Students should consult with their individual arts school faculty members for career guidance in their specific fields and utilize the Career Readiness office for the following:


Career Development Grants


Grant Writing 

The Introduction to Grant Writing workshop, to be held twice via Zoom during the fall semester, is intended to help students develop skills in grant writing and reporting. This is highly recommended for students intending to apply for a Career Development Grant

Fellowships and Internships

Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) Assessment and Interpretation 

Learn your personality preferences and how they can enhance your individual development, academic and artistic studies, collaborations and career choices. Take the online assessment and meet with a MBTI-certified staff member for interpretation of results, by appointment.

Basic (non-arts) Resume and Cover Letter Review Sessions 

Contact the Writing Center to set up an individual coaching session. Following this session, feel free to reach out to Career Readiness for more specifics.

Transferable Skills

Offered each spring semester, this workshop is for students who are interested in exploring how to translate arts-skills for a basic resume.

Before You Go

Offered at the end of the school year, this 2-hour workshop helps students explore the many transferable skills and work competencies they have developed and covers some approaches to job finding.  Open to all graduating students. 

UNCSA Connects

A program of the Alumni Office, UNCSA Connects allows current students to reach out to alumni for advice on careers. 


A platform where creatives can connect, collaborate, and learn. Free classes on Portfolio Creation, NFTs for Artists, and Freelancing. All UNCSA students are eligible to join this community at no cost.
