SGA Associate Application
SGA Associate Application
Thank you for your interest in serving the UNCSA student body! The position of Student Government Association Associate makes you a valued partner of UNCSA’s SGA. The Associate role is an entry point onto SGA with a low-stress commitment level.
Students considering this position should have an understanding and ongoing demonstration of the following values and traits:
- Awareness: The SGA Associate should be able to maintain an awareness of self, others, and the current campus culture and how these intersect and/or affect one another and affect the UNCSA student experience.
- Listening: The SGA Associate serves multiple groups at UNCSA, including the student body, the SGA Executive team, and university administration, and they look to the SGA Executives for input. One of the most essential skills, if not the most critical, required of any role on SGA is active and effective listening.
- Solution-focused: The SGA Associate should be able to remain above the “noise” (i.e. complaints, gossip, etc.) and maintain a solution-focused mindset as they provide input and feedback to the SGA Executive team.
- Stamina: While this is a volunteer commitment, we encourage it not to be taken lightly and should be made with the understanding that SGA is a priority for the student. It is the student's responsibility to fulfill their SGA commitment as laid out in the UNCSA SGA Constitution.
- Coachable: The SGA Associate must thrive in a team environment and respect the authority of the Student Body President and the SGA Advisor. As the SGA Associate grows in knowledge and familiarity with SGA, our goal is for them to be alert to opportunities for growth and improvement.
An SGA Associate:
- Is invited to attend weekly SGA Executive Meetings (12:45p-1:45p every Wednesday) throughout the semester.
- Must be in good standing (with art school, academics, and conduct).
- Must respond promptly to SGA-related texts and emails.
- Is highly encouraged to repost and share information regarding events and news SGA posts on social media.
Thank you again for considering the SGA Associate role. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact Kiley Mullins, SGA Associate Liaison and Design & Production Executive.
