Grace Ludtke
Grace Ludtke has been praised for her "brilliant" and "stunning" playing by the Cultural Voice of North Carolina and regarded as "a passionate performer - a harpist with heart" by Our State Magazine. She is passionate about giving audiences a new impression of the harp and sharing its stories so its secrets can be discovered.
Ludtke has performed as soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral musician throughout North America and Europe, including concerts at Carnegie Hall in New York City, St. George's Church in London, and Liben Castle in Prague and has performed with the North Carolina Opera Orchestra and regional orchestras across the state. In 2023, she joined Sono Auros founded by flutist Lucian Rinando and cellist Samuel Magill in New York prior to their relocation to North Carolina.
Ludtke believes that cultivating creativity and artistic practice is a tool for empowerment for both individuals and communities. Her performance and teaching career are influenced by her combined passions for music and social work practice, having earned master's degrees in both disciplines.
Presently, she teaches in the music departments at High Point University and Guilford College and serves on the artistic teams of the American Harp Academy and North Carolina Harp Ensemble at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts with the mission of nurturing the artist within the harpist. These programs provide transformational learning and performance opportunities to harpists of all ages and skill levels nationwide.
Ludtke's education spans North and South Carolina. She completed a bachelor's degree in music at Converse University Petrie School of Music, a master's degree in social work at Winthrop University, and a master's degree in harp performance at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts studying with Jacquelyn Bartlett.
